Chris Wyllie, meanwhile, CIO at London-based NMA Top 100 advice firm Connor Broadley, is concerned that the past decade’s ‘super normal returns’ mean a ‘risk of fade and a reversion to the mean’, but the firm is not yet seeing strong evidence that US equities’ lightning run is over.

The advice firm is relatively overweight to the US and holds passive trackers for its large-cap exposure. For small and mid-caps, Wyllie uses two funds in tandem: Fisher US Small and Mid-Cap Core and the VT De Lisle America.

Wyllie accepts De Lilse’s ‘very particular style’ and willingness ‘to go smaller than a lot of other managers’ for value, but backs the merits of the stockpicker’s eclecticism.
